Heather Treadway is a freelance apparel designer, costumer and tailor. With over 15 years experience in tailoring for global sportswear companies, photo styling, as well as apparel, wardrobe, textile, and costume design, she teaches her sewing and design techniques to intermediate students at the Portland Apparel Lab. In her most recent projects, she works closely with styling and wardrobe teams to fit and tailor athletic apparel, along with creating accessories and soft props to execute the stylist’s vision. From bucket hats to plastic trench coats and even chain body jewelry, Heather's medium extends past fabric to soft sculpture, plastics, and metals.
As a performance artist and musician, Heather channels her creative vision to translate onstage. In Portland's prominent post-punk trio, Explode Into Colors, she performs as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, oftentimes designing costume for their impassioned sets. In Secret Drum Band, her percussion and costume design helps to shape their rich soundscapes and rhythmic textures.
Heather's passion lies in sharing her excitement for sewing, wardrobe, and costume design with others. If you would like to collaborate, or schedule a private or group sewing lesson, please get in touch or book an appointment.
